Rush Lookbook
August is here, which means rush week is upon us! While it has been a couple of years since I was involved with my sorority at The University of Alabama, I look back and only have such amazing memories during my first rush week and every other one I helped out with after! Whether you’re rushing now or in the spring, this blog post is FULL of every outfit you could possibly need and more! Heavy reminder that it isn’t about the clothes you wear but the girl you are inside! Pick an outfit from your closet or buy yourself a new one. Do whatever will make you feel the most confident in yourself!
Rush Bag
Girls. If there is ONE thing you need during rush week, it is a “rush bag.” From fans to snacks to your makeup bag, I promise you that your bag is going to filled to the brim with anything and everything you can think of to make this process easier. Personally, I would go to Target or TJMaxx to get a bag at a fairly decent price so you can splurge on a rush outfit. Also beware that your bag is going to be sitting on the ground or the grass for most of the day, so don’t use one of your favorites in case anything happens to it!
Monogram Wicker Bag
When I saw this wicker bag, my mouth literally dropped open. I am OBSESSED with the pink scarf around the handles, and there is nothing more classic than having your monogram embroidered on your bag! With so many girls rushing, using a bag with identifying marks makes it so much easier to find when all the bags are lumped together in the front of a house.
Bright Pink Tote
Going off of using a bag that is easy to spot, nothing is brighter than this pink Lilly Pulitzer bag! Not only is the color vibrant, but the pattern on it is also gorgeous. While this bag may seem big, I promise you are going to be filling it up with SO many different products so that you are prepared for anything. When it comes to choosing a bag, the bigger the better to make sure you’re never without something!
Lululemon Bag
When I saw this lululemon bag, the first thing I thought was “look at all those pockets!” When you’re running from house to house on a tight schedule, things can get a little crazy, so I love how you’d be able to easily organize your bag with different compartments for different needs. The material is also super nice as your bags will be sitting outdoors and sometimes on the grass in front of the sorority houses.
Coach Tote
When I was rushing, I saw so many girls who were using bags just like this to hold all of their things! What I love most about this bag is how you would be able to use it as your school bag for the rest of the year, so really it would be a great investment! While white isn’t as easy to spot, it’s the perfect neutral bag that will go with whatever outfits you are wearing throughout the week. Plus, these tote bags are super high quality and will last forever!
L.L.Bean Boat and Tote
If there has been one bag that has taken over the world, it’s the L.L.Bean Boat and Tote. And it’s because this bag is genuinely one of the most versatile totes I have ever seen! You get to choose your color, size, and you have the option to personalize it with whatever you want it to say! While these bags don’t have any interior pockets, they are SO huge you could totally organize your things into smaller bags and throw them inside with room to spare!
Cherry Tote
Did anyone else feel like cherries were the fruit of the summer this year? I feel like you couldn’t go online without seeing someone wearing the cutest outfit with cherries on it. So, when I saw this bag, I knew it was going to make the list. Once again, this bag has SO many different pockets that will make your life so much easier as you continue to fix your hair or reapply makeup throughout the day!
BÉIS Weekender
Let me tell you something, I wish BÉIS bags were around when I was rushing my freshmen year because they are THE perfect rush bag. Not only are they super roomy, but there is an even a separate compartment on the bottom that is perfect for storing shoes (you never know when a heel is going to break!). I have used my own BÉIS bag for so many different events, and it never fails to impress me with how much it can hold.
Kate Spade Tote
Kate Spade is another brand that I saw so many different girls using for their rush bags! Every single one of their bags is so high quality that I’m sure they finished rush week unscathed. What I love most about this bag is the material as it isn’t going to get scratched up or ruined when you’re putting it on the ground outside the houses. This is also another neutral bag that would be perfect to use as your school bag throughout the rest of the year!
Convocation
Before I start sharing these looks with you, I want you to know that I’m basing all of these outfits off of what I experienced at The University of Alabama. My convocation process was super laid back, and so many girls were wearing cute athletic outfits. This phase of rush is when you meet your Rho Chi (this name varies by school) and the other girls rushing! Basically you’ll just be listening to speeches and getting acquainted with everyone.
Pink Athletic Look
Of course I have to start the lookbook off with the dreamiest pink outfit ever! From the ruffles to the bright pink, how could you not feel like Barbie when wearing this outfit!? To keep the look trendy and monochromatic, I found similar shades of pink for the accessories, and I love how the finished look turned out. If I had to rush again, you bet I’m wearing something just like this!
Yellow Athletic Dress
Butter yellow was the color of the summer, and when I see it on a dress like this, I can totally tell why. This entire look just reminds me of the sun, so you’ll literally be a perfect ray of sunshine to those you meet during the round. I’m also in LOVE with these amazing sneakers I found that have adorable little daisies all over them!
Teal Athletic Dress
When I saw how vibrant and beautiful this teal dress was, I knew it was going to make the list! I love the flare of the skirt and how flattering it will look for all different body types. Once again, I’m obsessed with the monochromatic look, but I added a pop of color with the white fanny pack just to break it up a little bit!
Green Athletic Dress
When I saw this green dress, I fell in love with how bright and bold the color was! I feel like green is such an underrated color to wear but can be SO flattering on so many different types of people. I also knew when I found this amazing monogrammed matching green fanny pack that this look was going to stand out in the lookbook as a favorite!
Purple Athletic Dress
This purple athletic dress is giving me all the Tangled vibes, which is so fitting! Rush is all about listening to your heart and following your dreams, so I would totally be channeling my inner Rapunzel while wearing this look. I’m also in love with the white shoes with just the perfect amount of purple to complete the look!
Orange Athletic Dress
There is something about bright orange that I have been loving lately, and when rush is all about standing out, this is the perfect look! I have this dress in different colors and let me tell you, it is SO comfortable and lightweight. A little monogram moment on the fanny pack in orange is the perfect cherry on top for completing the look!
Bright Pink Athletic Dress
If you’re looking to channel your inner Elle Woods while rushing, this is the perfect outfit to start the week with! Once again, it’s a bright and vibrant dress that lets the world know you are confident and ready to find your new home! The days can also be long, so I’m obsessed with wearing a matching claw clip to keep your hair up when you need to!
White Athletic Dress
As you’ll see as you go through the rest of the rush lookbook, the outfits only get fancier, so this is your one day to lean into a more comfortable, athletic look. This white dress is perfectly casual and cute, and by adding a little black hair bow, you’ll look like you’re ready to conquer the day!
Open House
Open House is the second phase of rush week, and it varies by school. If your open house is done virtually, you can wear any of the looks I created for convocation as only the top of your body will be on camera. However, if it’s in person, your rush process is officially starting, and it’s time to start dressing up! Remember, these are the first impressions the houses are getting of you, so make sure it’s a good one!
Classic Blue Dress
I’m always looking for the perfect Cinderella blue dress, and I have found it with this look! From the pearls to the heels, this look is giving all the princess vibes, and I’m obsessed with it. It’s so important to pick looks during this round that truly reflect who you are inside and out because you’ll only find your true home if you’re true to yourself!
Blue Floral Dress
LoveShackFancy has become one of my favorite places to look for dressier outfits, and this blue floral dress is PERF for open house! I love the shade of blue and the floral pattern sets the look apart from a solid colored dress. I also love that you can buy the perfume that matches the look (it’s all about the details!).
Gorgeous Purple Dress
If you loved the purple and Tangled vibes look from the convocation round, this is THE dress for you. I’m in love with the puffy sleeves and cinched in waist that make this dress look like it’s fit for a princess. It’s such a feminine outfit, so I found the most perfect delicate jewelry from Kendra Scott to complete the look!
Dreamy Blue Dress
One of my favorite types of dresses this year has been bubble dresses like this blue one! There is something so flattering about the shape of the dress, and I feel like it looks perfect on anyone who wears it. Rush days can be super long, so I love that there are no sleeves and the material is lightweight to keep you from sweating. I also found the CUTEST locket to go with the look!
Sunshine Yellow Dress
Once again, I feel like yellow has taken the world by storm this year, and I’m totally in love with how it looks on this dress! There is something so unique about the neckline and cut, and I feel like it looks super edgy while feminine at the same time. To keep a more neutral look, I decided to find brown and gold accessories as they complement the bright yellow so well!
Elegant Floral Dress
This look is probably one of the most classic and timeless rush outfits on this list. Girls have been wearing looks like this forever, and it’s because it works! I’m in love with the pattern, and the high neckline is super flattering and elevates the entire look. Of course, you have to pair this classic look with Tory Burch sandals!
Pink Floral Dress
Out of all the open house looks, this is probably the one modern-day Lauren would wear if she was rushing in 2025. This entire look just screams feminine and girly and everything I’m obsessed with! The low drop waist is also something I have been loving, and with the higher neckline, the entire cut of the dress is SO gorgeous!
Baby Pink Dress
Let’s be honest, 2025 Lauren would also be wearing this dress during the open house round! The light baby pink color of this dress is PERFECTION, and the lace detailing is absolutely stunning. To make the look even more girly, I found these amazing bow heel sandals that quite literally wrap the look up with a bow on top!
Philanthropy
My favorite part about being in a sorority was all of the amazing charity work we did. The philanthropy round is the chance for you to learn about the individual charities the different sororities work with, and it’s a tear jerker! For this round at SEC schools, you’ll be provided a shirt, so all you need are cute bottoms (avoid short-shorts, casual shorts, and jean shorts). If your school doesn’t provide shirts, pick another outfit from the open house looks above!
Bow Pink Shorts
If you’re looking for a major pop of color with your philanthropy shirt, you NEED these bright pink bow shorts. I love the length and fit of them, and they are perfect if you’re looking to wear pink throughout the entire week. I’m also obsessed with these sandals I found that have both pink and orange on them to add a little bit of fun to the look!
Ruffle Blue Skirt
If you’re not really into wearing shorts, this blue ruffle skirt is perfect! Not only am I obsessed with the color, but the layered ruffles add such a fun and dimensional look to the skirt. I’m also a sucker for matching jewelry, so I when I saw this gold set with blue gems, I knew it was exactly what this look was missing!
Pink Floral Shorts
There is something so fun about how feminine these pink shorts are while giving off all the jungle vibes. The pattern on them is absolutely stunning, and I feel like it sets them apart from all of the other solid colored shorts. I also LOVE the matching pink heels I found, and this little scarf that you can add to your hair or your bag!
Classic Orange Shorts
Wearing gorgeous orange shorts like these makes a bold and confident statement when you walk in the room! Once again, I feel like nobody ever wears orange, so if you’re looking to stand out or love the color, don’t be afraid and buy these! Remember, rush is about being true to yourself, and that also means wearing outfits that reflect who you are, so don’t be afraid to take risks!
Tweed Teal Skirt
A tweed blue skirt like this one is perfect for those of you looking for a more classic vibe for philanthropy round. If your school is giving you a shirt, a skirt like this can help you dress the look up without going overboard. As the color of the skirt is super cool, I decided to find some silver jewelry to finish the look!
Pink Ruffle Skirt
LoveShackFancy does it again with this gorgeous pink ruffled skirt! From the baby pink to the lace detailing, this is definitely a skirt I would have worn during rush week. To accessorize the look, I included some of my favorite Kendra Scott jewelry and the pink bow heels from earlier (because it’s totally okay to reuse accessories and shoes for different looks!).
Blue Gingham Shorts
While these shorts will look perfect on everyone, there is something about these that just feels SO southern and SEC. Gingham is such a classic look, and if you’re wearing a white shirt, the blue will add such a nice pop of color. Once again, a matching hair bow is the perfect accessory to make your look complete.
Sisterhood
As you’re rushing, one thing to remember is that as the week progresses, the outfits get fancier. Once you make it to the sisterhood round, you are starting to deeply connect with the houses and learning directly from the girls in the sorority what makes it so special. While you’re making connections, this is also the part of the week where the biggest cuts happen, so prepare yourself to make some hard decisions about where you want to end up.
Blue Bow Dress
Let’s start the sisterhood looks off strong with this gorgeous blue dress! As I said earlier, the looks are getting fancier, so fully embrace it and wear amazing looks like this one. I’m obsessed with the bow on the front, and the cut of the neckline is so flattering. I love Julie Vos jewelry, and it completes this look perfectly from head to toe!
Pretty Pink Dress
If you’re looking for the most LN look in the sisterhood round, this is THE look for you (and me!). From the straps to the pockets to the flare of the skirt, there is not one thing about this dress that I am not obsessed with! Again, if you’re looking to channel your inner Elle Woods or Barbie, I couldn’t see a more perfect outfit. Plus, the little bow ring is absolutely adorable!
Silky Purple Dress
When I saw this dress as I was scrolling online, I literally stopped in my tracks and gasped. This is the most rich and vibrant shade of purple I have ever seen, and the silk of the dress and the high neckline makes it absolutely stunning. With gold accessories and a black heel, you’ll be ready to take on the world!
White Classic Dress
I know we’ve all been loving channeling our inner Meredith Blake this summer, so why not continue it into rush week? From the fabric to the cut, everything about this look screams timeless and elegant. I also have been obsessed with sling backs this summer, and I feel like they are the exact shoes this look needs to be complete.
Polka Dot Dress
I’m telling you, I have seen SO many people wearing polka dots this year, and I am obsessed with the pattern! Something about it just feels so classic, and with the drop waist on this dress, it looks insanely perfect. This is another look that screams timeless, so I found the most feminine and classic accessories I could find to go with it!
Beautiful Blue Dress
I knew so many girls who wore similar colors throughout the week, so if you’ve been loving the teal looks, this dress is for you! I am in love with the high neck, and the wrap around the waist adds a little something extra to make the look stand out! I’ve also gone with all gold accessories as I feel like they match the color super well!
Stunning Blue Dress
If there’s a bow on a dress, you know it is going to make the lookbook. I love the idea of a high neckline being tied together by the prettiest bow on the back. Plus, the ruffle detail at the bottom truly brings the entire look together. For accessories, I included gorgeous silver options and one of my lip glosses ever!
White Bow Dress
Y’all. I am in LOVE with this look that I put together. The dress with the three bows on the front is literally perfection, and when I found all these amazing bow jewelry pieces with pops of pink, I knew it was going to make the look feel FABULOUS. Plus, the matching pink heels bring such a smile to my face!
Pref
Pref round is the longest round of the week, and it’s the most important! During this round, you are making the ultimate decision about where your home will be for the next four years! This is the dressiest part of rush week and the attire is similar to being a wedding guest. Some girls decide to only wear white but that is totally optional. You’re only visiting 2-3 houses at this point, so it’s really your last chance to decide where you want to be.
Elegant Yellow Dress
Let’s all take a moment to appreciate how truly gorgeous this yellow dress is. From the draped cape to the flared skirt, I don’t think I could love this look anymore than I already do! It feels so elegant and classic, so I found gorgeous lacy heels and pearl jewelry to match the elevated look! I would totally wear this if I had to rush again.
Classic White Dress
If you’re looking to wear white during this round, this is the look for you! What I love most about the dress is the unique gold rings on the waistline that cinch in the dress perfectly. To match the gold hardware, I found the most amazing gold heels and jewelry to keep the look super cohesive and clean!
Silky White Dress
Here is another white option for those of you choosing to wear white during this round! What I love most about this dress is the silky material as it elevates the look and makes it look SO fancy. If you’re looking to add a tiny bit of color to the look, the jewelry I’ve found actually has tiny pops of pink in them without being too bright against the white dress!
Classic Pink Dress
This pink tweed dress is another classic rush look! From the bright pink color to the pearls outlining the neckline, everything about this is giving “I’m ready to be in my sorority!” To really bring out the pink of the dress, I found these amazing pieces of jewelry from Lilly Pulitzer that help make it pop, along with the lighter pink heels!
Timeless White Dress
This white dress is one of the most elegant and gorgeous dresses I have ever seen. Everything about it gives prim and proper, and I love the cut of the sleeves and neckline. It was clear to me that this look needed pearls galore to match the classy vibes of the dress, so I included some of my personal favorite pearl jewelry!
Yellow Silk Dress
If you’ve been looking at the previous dresses and loved different elements of each, this yellow dress combines all of them and does it flawlessly. It has a high neck with a scarf, silky material, and gorgeous waist detailing with a flower. I wanted to emphasize the flower in the accessories, so I found these amazing floral earrings and heels!
Pink Flower Dress
So many of you always ask for feminine and baby pink dresses, so I wanted to add one to the lookbook with one of my favorites! I am literally obsessed with the huge flower on the neckline of this dress, and somehow it manages to feel dainty and girly while still being such a major focal point. Of course, you need matching pink accessories, including this hair bow and bow ring!
Sleek Black Dress
If you’re looking for the opposite of a white dress, this stunning black dress is exactly what you need! Like the yellow dress earlier, I love how scarf wraps around your neck and flows down your back to create this stunning silhouette. Again, I’ve found an adorable black bow and matching heels to complete the look as you prepare to run home!
Making this blog post made me so sentimental as I looked back on my time in my sorority. While rush week may feel long, I promise it goes by in a flash, and so will your time in college, so always remember to enjoy it and don’t take anything for granted!
